Getting Started

When I was first diagnosed, one of the first books I got was Living Gluten Free For Dummies by Danna Korn.  It provides the basics of what celiacs disease is and basic recipes to get you started.

I also found a local chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association which provided a lot of great information in their bi-monthly newsletters.  The Denver Chapter also has a great Product List of brand name foods that are gluten free that you can shop for at your local grocery store.  I found it extremely helpful that first year.

I currently have two favorite cookbooks that I highly recommend.  I love a lot of the recipes and they are very easy to make.  The first is gluten free Every Day Cookbook by Robert Landolphi.  Robert's wife was diagnosed with Celiac's and he is a professional chef.  The other cookbook was a gift that I received in 2009 and has quickly become a favorite - Easy Gluten-Free Baking by Elizabeth Barbone.  I love the Coffee Cake recipe and I would say that my dog Bella loves it even more!  I have to make sure it cools on the back burner or she will help herself!

We also have a new chapter for Gluten Intolerance Group in Denver.  Stay tuned for more details as the chapter is just starting!
